Role in the Story
Red Skull is one of the many villains who joins Loki in the quest to find the Cosmic Bricks to use to power Doctor Doom's Doom Ray of Doom.
Red Skull is first seen in The Raft, where all villians are taken in. He is one of the villians to break out.
Red Skull is later seen in the HYDRA base. There he and Arnim Zola have been conspiring with Loki. They notice Hawkeye and Black Widow and they are knocked out by Loki. Captain America joins up and he and Human Torch defeat the Red Skull.
History
Johann Schmidt was transformed by Adolf Hitler in the years prior to World War II into the perfect Nazi super-agent, a physical and mental paragon. As the Red Skull, Schmidt and his legions of minions and impersonators fought Captain America and Bucky Barnes, but he was ultimately trapped in his bunker under a pile of rubble in a clash with the former and left to die. However, the rubble shattered a container for an experimental suspended animation gas, which rendered him unconscious and unaging for decades. One day, HYDRA discovered the Skull and revived him in more modern times to be the organization's own super-agent to use against the likes of the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the similarly revived Captain America. Though he seemingly perished in a final battle with his patriotic foe, the Red Skull in fact lived on, his mind planted by Arnim Zola into a clone-body of Captain America which was later disfigured to look like his past body's skull mask. Occasionally hopping from body to body, the Red Skull remains Captain America's most implacable foe.
Appearance
The Red Skull has a face shaped and colored like a red human skull, a black coat with buttons over a shirt with a gray collar, a brown belt with a silver buckle bearing the HYDRA insignia, black gloves, and black pants.
Abilities
Double-Barreled Energy Blaster: Red Skull wields a double-barreled energy blaster with considerable knockback and potential for destruction.
